Norsan Media‘s recently acquired WFYY-FM 103.1, serving the Orlando market, has unveiled its new weekday programming lineup. It makes one thing clear: the regional Hispanic media company with stations in Jacksonville seeks to vigorously compete against Spanish Broadcasting System, iHeartMedia, Cox Media and operators of AM radio stations and FM translators who all seek to capture Spanish-speaking audiences in a fast-growing region for Latinos.
For Norsan’s “Kaliente 103.1 FM,” formerly a JVC Broadcasting station airing a Hip-Hop format that is the original home of Smooth Jazz WLOQ, will feature “El Bembé de la Mañana” in the 6am-10am slot, weekdays.
The show is hosted by “El Bebo” Adames and Kiara Rivera. El Bebo has worked at “La Mega 106.9” in San Juan, Puerto Rico and for Telemundo Puerto Rico. Most recently, Adames hosted “Epi y Bebo en la Mañana” for Cox Media’s crosstown WOEX, when it was “Exitos 96.5.” Today, it is airing a blend of Adult Contemporary music with Spanish-language hosts and commercials as “HITS 96.5.” Rivera is a former Miss Mundo USA Latina with a background in TV including Telemundo soap operas.
Jessica Reyes will take the 10am-3pm slot. She is known for her appearances on the nationally syndicated show “The Daily Buzz”, and was a regular contributor to the Mental Health Television Network.
In afternoons is “Viral y Kaliente,” hosted by Ale La Bollusca. She also has experience with Mega 106.9 in San Juan, working with acclaimed hosts there such as “El Molusco.”
WFYY is programmed by Arnulfo Ramirez. He commented, “We are thrilled to introduce a lineup of talented personalities on Kaliente 103.1 FM. Our new talent and programming brings an exciting mix of high energy an experience, ensuring our listeners get the best entertainment and connection to our culture.
Norsan Media CEO Natalia Sanchez Alvarez, daughter of company founder Norberto Sanchez, added, “This is just the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Norsan Media in Orlando, and we are delighted to bring this engaging and original content to the Hispanic audience.”
Norsan Media currently owns over 50 radio stations, four television stations, a weekly regional digital and printed publication, and digital marketing and social media platforms serving Spanish-speaking audiences in North Carolina, South Carolina, Central Florida and Texas.
