Angélica Vale To Host New EstrellaTV Dating Series

LOS ANGELES — She became renown to Spanish-language television audiences for her star-making role in the Mexican adaptation of “Ugly Betty,” La Fea Más Bella.

Today, she’s hosting the morning show on reggaetón-fueled Latin Urban “Cali 93.9,” a Meruelo Media-owned property.

Soon, she’ll be adding a TV series produced and distributed by a Meruelo radio rival that’s invested heavily in video and digital platforms since its transformation from the former LBI Media.

Estrella Media, led by Peter Markham since its emergence from debtor-in-possession status under new leadership, has signed Angélica Vale on to host a new original dating series for its EstrellaTV broadcast network. Dubbed La Máscara del Amor, the series is already in production from the Empire Center headquarters in Burbank, Calif.

“I’m excited to join the EstrellaTV team in hosting this unique and fun dating show,” said Vale, who joined KLLI-FM in October 2019. It was not immediately known if she will be leaving that role to host the Estrella Media TV show, or if this role is in addition to her duties at Meruelo Media’s radio station.

The show’s plot involves a single man or woman being wooed through games and challenges by five masked suitors. The contestants move through the challenges with Vale serving as both host and
confidant. At the end, it is ultimately up to the main contestant to decide between love or the cash prize at the end of each episode.

Commenting on the launch of La Máscara del Amor, Vale said, “Many of my single friends say how hard it is to meet someone. This series is a new twist on how people make personal love
connections beyond typical first date pleasantries. On this show, our contestants will have the opportunity to participate in games and situations that allow them to get to know someone before seeing who is behind the mask. I’m excited to hopefully help these singles make a real love connection.”

An initial 44-episode run will be co-produced with Alton River Media, which operates a soundstage in the Dominican Republic.

The series is scheduled to debut Thursday, May 27 on EstrellaTV.

“Angélica is a natural fit for this unique role, as it’s a hybrid of hosting and being the fairy godmother to an entertaining group of singles looking for love,” Estrella Media’s EVP/TV Programming Ivan Stoilkovich said. “Our audience looks to us to be entertained, and we love this series because it delivers a unique and fun alternative to the challenge of meeting your true love. We think the audience will love it, and judging from the contestants, we are already rooting for love to happen on this show.”

EstrellaTV can be viewed on the EstrellaTV Network, carried by most major cable carriers, and streamed everywhere on Samsung TV+, The Roku Channel, Xumo, and fuboTV.
