IOC Awards TelevisaUnivision Exclusive Media Rights In Mexico

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has awarded TelevisaUnivision the exclusive media rights on free-to air, pay television and digital platforms and non-exclusive radio rights in Mexico for every edition of the Olympic Games until 2032, including the right to sub-license media rights within Mexico.

TelevisaUnivision, as Televisa, first broadcast the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964. It most recently was a media rightsholder for the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

The agreement was reached following a competitive tender, the IOC says, and it includes a commitment to at least 200 hours of free-to-air coverage of the Olympic Games, as well as free-to-air coverage of the Olympic Winter Games and Youth Olympic Games. The free-to-air broadcast will be complemented with pay TV coverage, as well as simulcast coverage on ViX, the TelevisaUnivision Iberoamerican streaming platform.

Olek Loewenstein, President of Global Sports of TelevisaUnivision, commented, “We are delighted to sign this historic agreement with the IOC. Thanks to this, we will cover the Summer, Winter and Youth Olympic Games on all platforms in Mexico for the next eight years. Our coverage of Paris 2024, seen by millions, was key to our being selected by the IOC as partners and holders of its rights on all platforms in Mexico. Our commitment is to continue bringing the best Olympic
coverage to every corner of our country and, at the same time, help strengthen the Olympic Movement and support Mexican athletes.”

The period covers the XXV Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad Los Angeles 2028, the XXVI Olympic Winter Games French Alps 2030 and the Games of the XXXV Olympiad Brisbane 2032, as well as the Youth Olympic Games during this period.
