HC2 Deal Brings ‘Novelisima” Digital Multicast To U.S. Latinos

The parent company of Azteca América is partnering with Cisneros Media to bring a second Spanish-language broadcast TV offering to those who tune to HC2 Broadcasting-owned and operated low-power TV stations across the U.S.

Introducing “Novelisima,” a platform dedicated to telenovelas set to compete directly against OTT platforms and Hemisphere Media Group-distributed cable TV Latino tier offerings.

“Novelisima” will appear as a digital multicast on a host of channels, giving it an on-air home as a free-to-air channel.

Cisneros Media President Jonathan Blum says, “To complement the content and better serve telenovela fans, we have created a series of capsules featuring outstanding on-air talent, creators, writers and directors who were contributors to the development of this genre and are part of the Gente Novelisima.”

Speaking for HC2 Holdings is President/CEO Wayne Barr Jr.

“We are thrilled to partner with Cisneros to extend the reach of Cisneros’ highly compelling productions into 79 U.S. markets, reaching more than 85% of Hispanic households,” Barr said. “This partnership is another terrific example of how we are leveraging our unparalleled distribution network, which reaches 130 markets, including 34 of the top 35 U.S. markets in the United States and Puerto Rico, and delivering outstanding content to the rapidly growing number of OTA households across the country.”
