NBCUniversal Local’s Telemundo Station Group stations serving Tampa and Fort Myers-Naples, respectively, have new news anchors.
Norma Ribeiro has been appointed anchor for the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. editions of “Noticiero Telemundo 49,” and Samantha Diaz Roberts has been promoted to anchor for the 5 p.m. newscast.
Ribeiro and Diaz Roberts will debut in their new roles at WRDM-49 in Tampa and WWDT-TV in Southwest Florida in mid-August.
Ribeiro is joining the stations from Telemundo Station Group’s KVEA-52 in Los Angeles, where she served as a news reporter since 2017. Prior to KVEA, Ribeiro worked at Univision and Venevision.
“Norma is a highly skilled journalist who brings a wealth of experience covering diverse communities,” said Miguelangel Lopez, Regional VP of News and Content for Telemundo-owned stations in Orlando, Tampa & Ft. Myers. “Her dedication to journalism and storytelling will be a tremendous asset to our award-winning team and our audiences across the Gulf Coast.”
Diaz Roberts most recently served as a multimedia journalist for Telemundo 49 and Telemundo Noticias Florida, a streaming news channel. Previously, she spent time with Telemundo in Las Vegas.
“Samantha’s passion for journalism and commitment to serving our communities is evident in her award-winning work and success covering multiple markets and communities,” added Lopez. “Her promotion is a testament to her talent and dedication, and we look forward to her continued contributions in her new expanded role with Noticiero Telemundo 49.”
