With Mega TV Deal Erased, VOZ Links With Daystar On Hour-Long Show

By now, VOZ Media was expected to be the rightful owner of Mega TV, as the Texas-headquartered entity focused on news with a conservative political viewpoint headed by Orlando Salazar had agreed to purchase it from Spanish Broadcasting System for $64 million.

The transaction never closed; SBS’s President/COO and CFO have each left the company.

Now, VOZ Media is moving forward with the debut of an hour-long news program that will air on the evangelical Daystar Español network, starting March 4.

Taking the helm of this offering, which will air at 6pm Eastern each weekday, is Karina Yapor.

The Spanish-language Daystar Television Network offering is distributed via local stations and affiliates, and can be seen on DirecTV across the U.S. and in Latin America. It is also on Dish Mexico, and on the Hispasat and SES-6 Satellites.

“We are very excited to welcome anchor Karina Yapor and the VOZ team to Daystar Español,” says Joni Lamb, President of Daystar Television Network. “The rapidly growing, Spanish-speaking community deserves a quality news broadcast that delivers the latest in news that speaks to the issues that matter to their community as well as aligns with their core values. And VOZ does a great job of that.”

Salazar commented, “We are grateful that Daystar sees VOZ as a resource to Spanish speakers in our country and around the world in providing news, information and inspiring stories based on family values. VOZ is committed to providing Latinos with a multichannel media network that authentically represents their culture and addresses their specific needs. We will be growing our programming content, beyond our news hour in the weeks ahead.”
