Arteaga Grustein Named CCO For WAPA Owner Hemisphere

Hemisphere Media Group, the media company serving U.S. Hispanic and Latin American consumers that owns several cable TV networks and the WAPA-TV operation in Puerto Rico, is promoting from within as it selects a Chief Content Officer. It’s an individual boasting more than three decades of entertainment industry experience.

Taking the role is Jimmy Arteaga Grustein, who rises from the position of President of Programming, Production & Promotion at WAPA-TV. He reports to WAPA Media President/CEO Jorge Hidalgo.

Arteaga Grustein’s tenure at WAPA, on Channel 4 in San Juan, saw the station reclaim the No. 1 position in Puerto Rico after a challenge from Univision. He’d held the post since 2010.

Now, Arteaga Grustein will continue to oversee all aspects of WAPA Television’s production, programming, and promotion while also taking charge of production and programming for Hemisphere’s cable and digital channels, comprised of five U.S. Hispanic cable networks, two Latin American cable networks, and newly launched FAST channels.

“Jimmy’s extensive experience and vast knowledge of our markets make him the ideal candidate to lead Hemisphere’s programming team. We are confident that under his leadership, our content offerings will continue to thrive and resonate with our audiences,” Hidalgo said.

HMG added that Arteaga Grustein’s appointment comes at a “pivotal time” for Hemisphere Media Group as it seeks to further expand its presence in the Spanish-language television market. “With his deep understanding of the industry and strong leadership skills, Arteaga Grustein is poised to drive the company’s content strategy forward and further solidify its position as a leader in the field,” the company said.
