Rosemary Mercedes Resurfaces at BBC Studios for Americas Role

NEW YORK — She most recently served as Univision Communications’ EVP and Chief Communications Officer and played an integral role at the company for more than 15 years.

Now, after a “remarkable sabbatical year,” Rosemary Mercedes has accepted a position to run communications for the British Broadcasting Corp.’s BBC Studios in the Americas — its largest international market.

Mercedes is taking the role of SVP of Communications, Americas.  She reports to BBC Studios SVP of Global Communications Gavin Dawson, and will be based in Midtown Manhattan. BBC Studios maintains offices on Sixth Avenue, two blocks north of Bryant Park.

For Mercedes, her immediate tasks include “refining and elevating the company’s positioning in the marketplace” while promoting its partnerships and activities across the industry.

Gavin Dawson said of Mercedes, “Rosemary has extensive experience leading communications strategy development and media relations, content publicity, internal communications, diversity & inclusion strategies and reputation management. Her enthusiasm and energy match her experience and I couldn’t be more excited about her joining the team at what is a busy time of expansion and growth for BBC Studios Americas.”

Mercedes added, “I am delighted to join the world-class team at BBC Studios that develops and distributes premium content of unrivalled range and quality. I look forward to raising awareness of the brand and supporting the continued growth and reach of BBC Studios content in the Americas.”

At Univision, Mercedes rose from the role of Director of Corporate Communications, which she took in February 2006.
