For decades, the NBCUniversal-owned Telemundo network has struggled to compete against Univision’s Despierta América and the trio of English-language morning shows found across ABC, NBC and CBS. Now, the network has decided to “expand” its broadcast news programming by simulcasting a news program from its 24/7 streaming news free ad-supported streaming television channel.
As such, starting August 4 the 7am Eastern hour will see a Noticias Telemundo AHORA newscast simulcast.
The program is anchored by Damià Bonmatí and Claudia de la Fuente. Instead of fashion and lifestyle reports, the program will bring Spanish-speaking U.S. Hispanic consumers the latest headlines, interviews with “key newsmakers,” weather forecasts from Noticias Telemundo Chief Meteorologist Carlos Robles and on-the-ground reporting from across the country.
What does this mean for Hoy Día, Telemundo’s morning show? It will now air from 8am-11:3oam Eastern.
NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises did not offer an explanation as to why the change is being made. However, it did note that since its launch in 2024, Noticias Telemundo AHORA has emerged as Telemundo’s leading FAST channel and ranks among the top 15 FAST channels across the NBCUniversal portfolio. The streaming channel is widely distributed, available on Roku, YouTube, Samsung TV Plus and Fire TV.
Noticias Telemundo AHORA is also available on Peacock, NoticiasTelemundo.com and the Noticias Telemundo app.
