Cue up another radio broadcasting company that has opted to install a nationally distributed radio program across its local FM music stations.
Univision Communications, now with majority ownership held by Searchlight and ForgeLight under new CEO Wade Davis, is bringing a new national audience offering — and sales solution — to its radio division, overseen by Jesus Lara.
It is doing so with the launch of a two-hour radio program under the name “Mixology.”
It’s hosted by Monse Medina and “DJ Vela” — a.k.a. Marcela Velasquez. The show will focus on “nonstop music, hype and lifestyle entertainment.”
The hype starts with Univision itself, which claims “Mixology” provides listeners “with a fresh, female-driven take on the traditional radio program.” How so? “The show will give Uforia audiences a daily jolt of energy and entertainment, together with today’s biggest Latin music hits.”
The show will air 11am-1pm local time on Univision’s Latino Mix-branded Spanish Contemporary stations in Chicago, Dallas, Houston, San Francisco, Phoenix, San Antonio and Las Vegas.
In Miami, it will air in the prime slot of 5pm-7pm on WRTO-FM “Mix 98.3.”
The debut of “Mixology” is set for Thursday (2/4).
