Claudia Garcia Stone, the wife of longtime Hispanic broadcast media leader Gary Stone, has died. She was 63 years of age.
Born in Houston, Garcia Stone worked for one of the early Spanish-language radio groups prior to industry consolidation, Tichenor Media System. Under Mac Tichenor Jr., Garcia Stone worked at both KLAT-AM and KLTN-FM in Houston for more than 13 years, starting in 1981. It was there where she met Stone, marrying him.
In fact, Claudia played a pivotal role in Gary’s career, supporting his work and entertaining clients and friends with joy, an official obituary reads. “Claudia held all her family so near and dear to her heart, loving them with all that she was. Always caring for everyone, Claudia was a truly giving person, more concerned with others than with herself. Claudia was a beautiful, loving, and gracious woman who will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and spending time with her.”
An August 29 funeral service will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home in Katy, Tex.
