Veteran U.S. Hispanic Media Executive Gets Montaner-Work Screen Rights

She’s a longtime Spanish-language television industry executive who is also the Chief Executive Officer and founder of a recently launched production company specializing in content and story development and production across film, television, and documentary formats. In that role as the head of Hi Media Partners, she’s snagged the screen rights from Grupo Planeta of a memoir that examines the life and “final chapter” of Cuban journalist and author Carlos Alberto Montaner.

This will see Cynthia Hudson bring «Deséenme un buen viaje» (“Wish Me a Good Journey”) into a feature film and a companion documentary.

The audio-visual adaptation expands beyond the book to examine the family’s struggle and tensions in securing a dignified death, while revisiting memories of a  man who escaped a Cuban prison and went into exile in the United States and Spain. Montaner went on to build a career as one of Latin America’s most influential journalists and authors.

The companion documentary will be produced by his granddaughter, journalist Paola Ramos, who documented Montaner’s final years.

The announcement marks Hudson’s first feature-length screen adaptation, guided by her long-standing editorial authority, storytelling vision, and executive experience.

The project also marks the official launch of Hi Media Partners through her Hudson International Media, led by Ms. Hudson in partnership with her daughter, Leila Victoria Fernández.

Hudson spent 15 years as Sr. VP and Managing Director of CNN en Español and has also been associated across the decades with Univision, Telemundo and Spanish Broadcasting System’s Mega TV.
